When to repair/replace
Philadelphia Waterscapes serves the Villanova, Montgomery County & Bucks County, Pennsylvania (PA) area, and they know that as a result of either uneducated or poor installation techniques, or even maintenance neglect, waterfalls and streams do occasionally require repairs. Tears in the liner and the breakdown of equipment are issues we see often with damaged or improperly operating water features, although the shifting of pebbles, rocks, and even land can also lead to problems and headaches.
Deciding when to repair a pond rather than replace it is a big financial difference. Some ponds may be able to be repaired in an hour or two, others may take much more. When an issue with a pond can only be fixed with extensive and costly work, it may be beneficial to start over and replace your pond.

Leak search process
If you suspect your pond of having a leak there are a few things you will want to do-
- Fill the pond to normal operating level and turn off your feature, if it is the summer or winter we recommend having an aerator installed during this test.
- Leave the pond to sit for 24 hours.
- If the pond level drops continue to let water drain until it stops or until your fish are running out of water.
- When the water stops draining the leak will be right at the water level and relatively easy to find.
- If the pond never loses water while sitting your leak is either in your plumbing or your waterfall.
- Also keep in mind that evaporation will occur in any body of water. Depending on how much water you have flowing in your system determines the amount of water you will lose daily, on larger systems 55 gallons of water loss is normal.
